Ben Lummis dropped by Song/BMG
Yes it's true, New Zealand's first NZ Idol Ben Lummis has been dropped by Sony/BMG, but is unknown why.
Paul Ellis, Lummis's manager, said Ben's first single and album sold well.| "Sales success was not the issue. It was just a difference of opinions, which is often the case in the music industry ... Maybe Ben does not fit the landscape for Sony BMG now."
It is known by Lummis fans that Sony/BMG did not surport Lummis, lack of advertising and NZ Idol runner-up Michael Murphy was the first of the two to have their own offical website, however Lummis's has not yet been set up.
Quote (The NZ Herald):
Blog founder Regan Cunliffe said the record company had seemed unenthusiastic about Lummis, but could not take all the blame. He said Lummis' Christianity may have been a factor.
"I don't think Ben's choice to spend the majority of his time preaching to the converted was a wise decision.
"The people of New Zealand gave him a title and he seems to have ignored them and focused on singing and speaking in churches."
Scared? Nervous?
Yes, you probably are. Auditioning for NZ Idol can be hard, but you need to think. Sure, you may be scared singing to 3 people, and the film crew, but what if you get through? You need to sing to all the top 100. Then, if you get into the final stage, with a audience, thats 300 people. Last year, a woman had great advice for idol-hopefuls. 'Pretend they are cabages and you'ill be sweet'
So, try thinking you are singing to a vege patch. Even Australia's first idol Guy Sebastian got nervous, but he sid goodbye to nerves by convincing himself he was in a place called GrooveLand, a place where it's just him and the music.
If Guy can do it, you can to.
Coming Soon:
NZ Idol is returning soon, and thousands are looking forward to audtioning to the 3 judges, Paul Ellis, Jackie Clarke, and Frankie Stevens. Some are nervous, and if you are one of them please note that when Top 3 finalist Camillia Temple brung her nerves into the audition room, Paul Ellis rejected her.
Note that there is a new judge, she could reject nervous people. Loose those nerves or loose your life-changing chance. It's up to you now, good luck for your audition.
